Mr. Lukas
Screaming Cat!
I'm at my computer, editing a session from earlier in the week. My cat, Nell, continually comes in and out of my studio. She heads over to the window, stands up and looks out, turns and walks away. She keeps doing this for another 5 minutes. Her tail is whipping and she is making a coughing sound. I've never heard this before from her. Her tail is the size of a raccoons' tail. Big and bushy. Strange, I thought (but I'm sure to all you cat pros you know exactly what's going on).
A minute later, Chloe, my daughter's dog, came into the studio. She heads over to the window and stands up and looks out the window. Cute, I thought. So I grab my camera and get it ready just in case they both stand up and look out the
What did she just say?!
Kali, she's a Silver Labrador. Lukas, he's the German Shepherd. Chloe, she's a Shitzu and belongs to Kylene.
Every night when their food is in their bowls, we say "one, two, three, GO!" And they run to their bowls.
Tonight I tried something new. As the three of them are lined up eager to jump up and run, I decide to say:
"Un, dos, tres, VAN!"
Nothing. All I got was a snicker from my husband and three confused
Lukas Hans Vom Abdeckerhaus
He's huge, lovable, amazing personality, extremely funny and 100 pounds of stubborn. He'll be a year old on the 31st and he still acts like he's 4 months old.
We have one more year of this goofiness, then maybe he'll chill out.
Anyway, this is our baby, Lukas Hans Vom Abdeckerhaus.
The Laws Of German Shepherd Property
1. If I like it, it's mine.
2. If it's in my mouth, it's mine.
3. If I can take it from you, it's mine.
4. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
5. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
6. If I'm chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.
7. If it just looks like mine, it's mine.
8. If I saw it first, it's mine.
9. If you are playing with something and you put it down,
BUT . . .
10. If it's broken, it's yours.
Puppyhood
16 weeks, 30 lbs, one ear up.
German Shepherd puppies are the cutest things, especially when they get to the point where the ears start standing. Sometimes they stand together, sometimes one ear stands before the other.
In Lukas' case, one stands before the other. It's funny to see "Mr. Tough-Hard-Headed-Stubborn-Vicious-Puppy" head out of the house on our walks barking at the entire world announcing he is out, so watch out, and try to take him serious - with one ear standing. People look and smile, sometimes laugh saying "I just love his ear".
Would you take him seriously at this point in his life?
Neither would I.
We have a new puppy!
His name is Lukas. He's 12 weeks old. He's a German Shepherd.
A sweet, lovable, hard-headed, stubborn German Shepherd.
He always wants the last word, even if it's a low, quite bark. It's the last word. He's your typical puppy - just a tad hard-headed and stubborn. My shadow, my companion, my guard puppy, my loyal foot warmer. Wherever I am, he's there.
How could I resist a face like this?
Kali, our Silver Lab. She's 5 years old. Quite the opposite of Lukas. She's sweet, gentle, sincere, cuddlebug, by my side always, and fetches the newspaper for me every morning
I love this gal.
She hates her new brother because he's hard-headed and stubborn. All her toys now belong to him and she can't stand that. Every day she asks if he's leaving and every day I break the news that he's not.
Sorry sweet gal, he's here for good.
Nell, the Princess / Diva / Drama Queen of the house. She's an Ocicat.
HATES Lukas with a passion.
He can't even look at her without her giving off a hiss. It's short of "Mommy, Lukas won't stop looking at me!" And he can be across the room too. It took her a week before she realized he's not leaving. She lets him know who's boss. She's Kali's buddy. She's not too much of a cuddler - but when she's in the mood for a pet or two - you'd better grab it at that moment or you won't get another chance for a week!
